CannSeal's tested and qualified epoxy sealant is developed in a state-of-the-art laboratory and is tailored to the specific challenges of your well.


CannSeal has investigated many injection materials and found epoxy to be the most superior material to stop gas or liquid flow in an annulus. The epoxy bonds extremely well to most materials and will fix any gas bubbles in place when it is setting. It is not affected by contamination, which is an important sensitivity of cement. As the sealant will not segregate, nor slump, it is suitable for all applications, including horizontal wells.


To ensure optimum placement, the viscosity, rheology and density of the sealant can be adapted and regulated according to the well conditions.  CannSeal tailors the epoxy recipe for the specific well temperature, placement time and viscosity in their own laboratories.

  • High viscosity (HV) epoxy is successfully used for an open annular space
    and low viscosity (LV) for cracks, fissures and micro-annuli.

  • The density of epoxy resin is in the range of 0.9 - 1.5 sg, and can be tailored by
    CannSeal with fillers to a range 100 - 4 million Cp.

  • Viscosities of epoxy can be tailored between 100 - 4 million Cp. (Note: water
    viscosity is 1 cP at ambient temperature/pressure)

  • The setting time of epoxy is tailored by CannSeal in a range between 12 to 48 hours, depending on the application

For aging predictions of epoxy, Canseal has performed in-house tests that indicate a life that exceeds 70 to 300 years, depending on temperature and pressure. The sealant is pre-mixed at our facilities before being transferred to the site within the tool assembly. Upon injection, the sealant is displaced exclusively into the annulus in a single operation, without the sealant spilling into the tubing.  If it is injected into a cement matrix for micro-annulus repair, a pumping differential pressure of 200 bar is achievable.  As it solidifies under well temperature conditions, the sealant will also seal the perforated holes, without any subsequent need for patching.
